Which city combines culture, shopping, a wonderful atmosphere and a lot of things to do? Berlin! The capital of Germany is the perfect destination for travelers who are looking for culture and history, as well as for shop-a-holics.
Berlin offers lots of small boutiques, expensive designer stores and large malls, for example near Kurfürstendamm. Don’t forget to try the local delicacies at the top floor of KaDeWe, Germany’s most well-known shopping center.
The city has a long and rich history. Sights like Topographie des Terrors, Treptower Park and Checkpoint Charlie remind us of the Second World War and the subsequent Cold War. Some parts of the Berlin Wall, which used to separate East from West, have deliberately been saved as a vivid reminder of those days.
Famous buildings like Brandenburger Tor, Siegessaule and the new Reichstag are equally impressive. Experience the old East and modern West Berlin in historical buildings like the Berliner Rathaus, the Fernsehturm or the Berliner Dom. Also make sure to visit the renovated Potzdammer Platz, with the modern Sony Center, during your stay in Berlin!
Outside of the city center are Schloss Charlottenbrug and, after a trip of just under an hour, the former concentration camp Sachsenhausen impressive. Especially the carefully preserved barracs and memorials in Sachsenhausen will leave a permanent mark in your memory.
